More about Me
Bex has studied, worked, and advocated for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the K-12 education system for the past 18 years. Bex started her journey studying systems of oppression with a queer feminist lens at the College of New Rochelle where she received a B.A. in English and a certification for Elementary Education.
Dedicated to progressive education and facilitated learning, Bex chose Bank Street College to receive her Master’s in Education with a specialization in Literacy. Bex worked for ten years as an elementary classroom teacher, Equity and Inclusion Director, and LGBTQ coordinator. She served on the NYSAIS Diversity Council and was a core member of the LGBTQ Educator working group for the New York Collective of Radical Educators.
For five years, Bex served as the Education Manager at a national non-profit organization LGBTQ support in K-12 schools. Bex has supported school, district, and national LGBTQ-inclusion and social justice initiatives and has conducted equity-themed PD workshops for students, faculty, administrators, and families.
As a professional LGBTQ+ & Equity Consultant, I know what it means to provide exceptional service and deliver meaningful results. See what my clients have to say about the work I’ve done, and contact me today to see what I can do for you.
I first became familiar with Bex’s work through her 2019 seminar on supporting gender nonconforming students, which served as an excellent starting point for conversations within our organization which creates instructional content for elementary students. When the opportunity to enlist her expertise as an advisor arose, we were thrilled to have the chance to work directly with her. With Bex’s guidance and feedback, we’ve not only developed shared language around diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, but have also established culturally responsive content creation guidelines. As a subject matter expert in LGBTQ+ inclusion in K-12 education, her expertise has been vital in ensuring we are responsibly creating content in which all students see themselves and their families represented. Bex’s insightful questions lead not only to examination of organizational practices, but to personal introspection as well. Her calm and caring demeanor establishes her as a trusted partner in the challenging work of examining and addressing inequities, and her intuitive coaching style makes DEI related change accessible to all.
